Why Panieer in Réunion Island?
Panieer isn't a local adaptation of a mainland model — it's the first connected locker network built from day one for Réunion Island, its distances, retail zones and pickup habits. Our first locker will be installed as early as September 2026.
Local delivery needs to become more flexible. Customers are not always available at home, merchants need to reduce delivery friction, and couriers need to drop parcels faster with fewer failed attempts.
With smart lockers, every actor gains efficiency: the merchant tracks each parcel, the courier deposits quickly, the customer picks up whenever they want — and the business hosting the locker earns passive income with no extra effort.
The origins of the project: the frustration of a child of the island
"Like every Réunionnais, I've lived the frustration of waiting for a parcel that seems to have vanished 9,300 km from here."
— The Founder of Panieer
The idea for Panieer was born out of an everyday obstacle course. Living in Réunion, our founder faced the same barriers you do: the excitement of ordering something online, quickly dampened by the reality of the "last mile" on our island.
Between delivery notices left in your mailbox while you were home the whole time, post offices with hours incompatible with a working life, and delivery fees that are steep for an often approximate service… the conclusion was clear. Receiving or sending a parcel in Réunion shouldn't be a luxury, or a source of stress.
The reality of island life: the challenge of insularity
Living on an intense island has an invisible but very real logistics cost. Unlike mainland France, where transport networks are interconnected and pickup points are everywhere, Réunion Island faces unique challenges:
- Geographic isolation. Our remoteness creates total dependence on air and sea freight. Once a parcel reaches the island, the journey isn't over: it still has to face our sometimes-saturated road network.
- Terrain and micro-regions. Living in the Hauts, in the East or in the West shouldn't determine your access to quality delivery. Traditional couriers sometimes struggle to efficiently cover every zone because of the terrain and the island's legendary traffic.
- The "double penalty" compared to mainland France. On the mainland, 24h or 48h home or pickup-point delivery is the norm. In Réunion, we often pay more for a slower service, with the added cost of blocking off half a day at home waiting for a courier.
Our response: bringing Réunion closer to the rest of the world
Panieer was born to break this sense of isolation and give Réunionnais the same quality of life as everywhere else.
We're not just installing metal boxes. We're building a neighborhood service adapted to our Creole way of life: on your daily routes, near your local shops, accessible 24/7. Panieer is technology in service of our territory, so distance is no longer a barrier in your daily life.
